Vitrezay is part of the network of Nature Escapes, which gathers 50,000 hectares of fragile and exceptional natural spaces because of their flora and fauna, their landscapes, but also their history and those of the men and women who have developed them. Vitrezay offers you a unique experience on a preserved site on the edge of the largest estuary in Europe, the Gironde! Boats, "carrelets" (small boats), waterways with a lot of activities for the whole family. Cruises with and without stopover to discover the estuary, fishing initiations, guided nature tours, archery, horse-drawn carriage rides and donkey rides.

An exceptional natural site

Vitrezay is an ideal place for walking or cycling. It is a window from the south of the Charente Maritime to the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to the power of the Gironde estuary, many aquatic species can be found in the fresh water mixed with the salt water of the sea.

Vitrezay is located on the V80 : canal des 2 mers à vélo. It is therefore a must for those who love cycling in a quiet and open air environment. Bicycle rental is available on site to ride the 16 km of marked paths.

Numerous other activities dedicated to the observation of the fauna and flora are regularly programmed: fishing, discovery of the marsh, carriage rides, cruises on the Gironde estuary from the end of April to the end of October.

Vitrezay is also a place of passage for migratory birds. Numerous species stop over there or install their nests. The star of these marshes being the stork whose flight and noise are recognizable between all!

Carriage rides from Vitrezay with the features of Jean Verat

During the season, the association "Les traits de Jean Verat" is present with its 12-seater carriage. It makes discover the marshes of the Gironde estuary and their specificities differently. While crossing the marshes at the rhythm of the horses, you will observe the fauna and the protected flora of Vitrezay. A treat for the eyes!
