Among the sites that can be visited:
Thechurch of Sainte-Radegonde, built in 1094. Romanesque in style, and a resting place for the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in the Via Turonensis. It has been catalogued as a historical monument since 1890. Its location by the river and the contrast with its dark sand make this place one of the most beautiful images, especially at dawn or dusk.
The maritime cemetery, located next to the church, where graves dating back to the 13th century are preserved. Until the 1950s, the cemetery was divided into two parts, one for Catholics and the other for Protestants. During the summer, the cemetery is adorned with many pink mauves, as is the village.
The museum of Talmont, founded in 1970 by the association of the friends of Talmont, is located not far from the church in a traditional house. It is divided into several parts: palaeontology, history of the church, creation of the town, the port and fishing in the estuary. Among the collections on display are fossils, ceramics, objects of daily life, models, photographs and a typical boat on display in the museum courtyard.
The harbour is located on the other side of the town, fishing is a very important part of it and has always been part of it. The pontoons are also a beautiful sight to see.
Guided tours of the village can be hired all year round with a fortnight's notice. But, as always, it's best to visit this little place at your own pace, stopping off at one of the many shops dotted around. You'll find everything from clothes and accessories to specialist shops selling leather, paintings and beautiful ceramics. On Tuesdays in July and August, the shops are open until 11pm and you can stroll the streets by candlelight and enjoy this wonderful part of the world.
The climate, as in most of this region, is very changeable, and because of its location, it is usually very windy. So don't forget to take long-sleeved clothes or something to protect your neck, especially if you visit at the last minute as we do.

If you are planning to visit this region of France, don't think twice and book a place to visit Talmont, you won't regret it.
